The Director of Marketing leads and manages Learning.com’s corporate marketing, solutions (product) marketing, web and ecommerce activities. The Director of Marketing is responsible for creating a compelling and strategic brand positioning that can serve as the foundation for everything Learning.com does – from the way it builds its communities, to the site/sales experience itself, to marketing communications that drives to that experience, and to the enablement of the online commercialization of Learning.com and 3rd party products and solutions.

POSITION SUMMARY


RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Marketing:

• Create and drive marketing strategy to achieve profitable market penetration.
• Build Learning.com’s brand recognition and association with core values in the market. Establish cross-functional teams with Sales, Product Management, Customer Support and Professional Development to meet overall corporate objectives.
• Partner with external agencies and consultants to refine, develop and support the marketing strategy.
• Be forward looking and monitor new market segment opportunities and competitive strategies and solutions.
Solutions Marketing:
• Creatively launch new solutions to Learning.com’s markets.
• Actively participate in NPI process and represent the voice of customers in the product development process.
Promotion:
• Develop and implement a marketing plan and budget to include PR, sales tools, customer communications, advertising, tradeshow activities, social media and ecommerce promotions (traffic and same customer sales). Plan should include strategies and top line tactics as well as metrics for measurement of success.

Web and Ecommerce:

• Own Learning.com site and store experience.
• Develop ecommerce strategy and tactical plan to enhance sales capabilities, both for Learning.com content and third-party provider content.
• Lead ecommerce platform development and implementation utilizing internal resources and external parties.
• Drive system performance based on metrics, analyze ecommerce and self-service activity and purchase patterns by market, solution and other measures.
• Mine ecommerce data such as visitor, shopping cart, and purchasing information and present it to solutions management and sales teams to drive continual improvement of market offerings.
• Develop and implement social networking and community management plan with the Community Manager.
• Establish metrics for measuring customer loyalty and drive programs to achieve customer retention/participation goals.

Team Leadership and Management:

• Develop and maintain strong relationships across the organization, creating advocacy and enlisting and promoting a team approach to achieve business and company goals.
• Increase the empowerment, innovation and productivity of direct reports and overall team, while driving a positive and respectful team-oriented environment.
• Develop and implement a monthly - quarterly metric package that communicates to management key accomplishments and progress.
Customer:
• Champion the voice of the customer.
• Establish a process of continual benchmarking of customer receptivity/relevance of messages and of continual improvement for yield, click-through, and ROI on marketing investment.
• Design and deliver a baseline survey of our customers and target customers to establish brand awareness/attributes and propensity to adopt our digital learning environment Sky, as well as Advanced Sky and Curriculum Solutions.
• Drive initiatives to strengthen customer satisfaction.

Sales Support:

• Create an open environment for communication with Sales and Customer Support to ensure that collaterals, advertizing, online media engagements and PR are aligned with Learning.com sales tactics and goals, and products/solutions market positioning strategies.
Financial:
• Develop strategies and execute tactics to deliver on targets for sales, revenue, and margin.
• Create and execute annual Marketing and Ecommerce Budgets to meet objectives for orders, sales and profit.
• Develop stretch targets to capitalize on upside market potential.
• Monitor performance on a monthly basis and identify and remedy gaps in actual performance versus budget and stretch targets.
• Manage expenditures in line with department budget.
• Any other relevant tasks required to help insure the company’s success.

SUPERVISORY REPSONSIBILITIES:

Manage team of marketing and web/ecommerce communication managers and specialists.
• 5+ years experience working in and leading creative services, marketing communications and product marketing teams

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5+ years experience with ecommerce, preferably involving both consumer-facing (B2C) and B2B
• Demonstrated success leading ecommerce development and revenue growth in a SAAS/solutions- led business
• Strong experience in and understanding of optimal UI for content purchases and self-service.
• Strong knowledge of web analytics, email marketing, social media, etc.
• Demonstrated skill managing cross-functional teams to reach implementation and business goals (e.g. creative, product management, marketing, customer service, technology and sales).
• Proven ability to bring out the best in people in a dynamic work environment
• Excellent executive level communication skills, both oral and written
• Competencies: leadership, digital and traditional marketing, strategic expertise, organizational agility, test-and-learn practices
• Personality fit with the brand, its DNA, style and spirit
• Bachelor's degree required, MBA or other advanced degree or equivalent experience is preferred
• Experience in Education is a plus

TERRITORY MANAGER – NORTHWEST TERRITORY

POSITION TITLE: Territory Manager - Northwest
REPORTS TO: National Field Sales Manager
DEPARTMENT: Sales
SCHEDULE: M-F
STATUS: Full-Time/Exempt
DATE WRITTEN/REVISED: August 2009
POSITION SUMMARY:
Learning.com territory managers build and maintain business relationships with new and existing customers through consultative/strategic selling skills leading to the sale of Learning.com products and related professional development programs in the K-12 education marketplace. The Territory Manager is a fieldbased sales position and is responsible for selling Learning.com products to school districts within the assigned territory.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and implement comprehensive territory and account strategy plans
• Initiate/expand key district and state relationships within territory
• Work to maintain and grow sales to current installed base
• Conduct successful sales presentations and product demonstrations
• Identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities
• Accurately forecast business opportunities
• Manage pipeline, report on territory initiatives, trends, etc.
• Manage travel and regional marketing expenses within budget
• Effectively utilize company systems for CRM, travel planning, resource sharing
• Other duties as assigned


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Individual contributor position

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Proven, successful field sales background; K-12 marketplace preferred
• Solid command of major account sales fundamentals and strategic/consultative selling skills
• Strong presentation, communication, relationship-building skills
• Experience with enterprise CRM system preferred
• Existing relationships within districts in assigned territory preferred
• 3-5 years sales experience
• Four year college degree
• Must be able to travel 75% time
